The Connect Learning Team has a focus on developing vocational and social skills in our senior students to support their transition to post-school. It supports this development through students participating in a variety of work education programs. This includes; Hospitality skill development through Six Degrees Café and the school canteen program, Horticulture skills through Yarralumla Nursery and our school garden and art skills through an ArtWorks program. These programs have a focus on developing general workplace capabilities such as remaining on task, following supervisors’ instructions and completing non-preferred tasks.
Connect students also develop travel training skills to support their post-school options. This is individualised for each student and includes supporting independent use of public transport.
Students are also offered other vocational opportunities such as work experience with local businesses or placements with some of our partnering organisations.
