Black Mountain School provides a functional curriculum. This supports students to develop their maximum potential and independence.
We deliver a quality, individualised education. We develop social, life and work skills to facilitate students' participation in a full and satisfying post-school life.
At Black Mountain, each student has a tailored learning plan or ILP (Individualised Learning Plan). Our functional curriculum provides the overarching framework for each student's ILP.
The ILP is developed within a planning process that aims to project forward and map post-school life for each student. This process is ongoing and forms a living document which drives individualised education. Futures planning is achieved in collaboration with parents, care-givers and relevant professionals.
