Black Mountain School - Principal's Message
I would like to extend a warm welcome and thank you for taking the time to learn more about Black Mountain School by viewing our website.
Black Mountain School caters for students with a disability in years 7-12 from the northside of Canberra. We are a centre for excellence in education and take pride in providing deeply personalised learning for all students. At Black Mountain School we are committed to providing rigorous, authentic, hands on learning experiences at the point of need for each individual.
On commencement at Black Mountain, staff, students and families work together to develop a Personal Futures Action Plan (PFAP) that follows each student throughout, and beyond their schooling. The PFAP is a central part to each individual’s learning, and aims to provide a seamless pathway through school and into post school life.
Students and staff at Black Mountain School study in one of four Learning Teams; Compass, Connect, Engage and Link. Students are grouped based on their learning goals and pathways identified in their PFAP. All staff at Black Mountain School are passionate about educating the whole child, and personalised learning programs are developed to meet the needs of all learners in each learning team.
I encourage you to explore our website and invite you to contact us by phone or email if you have any further inquiries.
